I Am From

Our latest writing project involved writing I Am From Poems. We read some I Am From poems first, including one written by Mrs. Vogel. Students brainstormed lists of family traditions, grandparents’ sayings, and the sights, sounds and smells from their everyday lives. Everyone did a wonderful job writing these. They have been printed on decorative paper and will be shared with families over Thanksgiving. If you are lucky, you might even get a dramatic reading!
Below is Andrew’s I Am From poem, published here with his permission. Nice job, Andrew!
I Am From
By Andrew S.
I am from the chocolaty taste of my Power Bar while tying my skates. From the screams of the crowd when a goal is scored.
I am from the Thanksgiving Wii tournament and the best turkey ever. From the backyard games to the yummy apple pie.
I am from the cold winter days to the warm hot chocolate. From snowball fights to the warmth of the fire place.
I am from the smell of my sister’s French toast to the taste of the eggs on Thanksgiving morning.
I am from the beautiful winding trail down in North Carolina.
I am from you can do anything you want if you set your mind to it.
